Biography
Lucas is a music composer specializing in music for film and animation, with five years of experience. I’ve studied with acclaimed mentors including Pete Calandra (composer for the 2014 FIFA World Cup), Robert Merkin (orchestrator for The Little Mermaid and Little Shop of Horrors), and Edward Smaldone (award-winning contemporary composer).
As an educator, Lucas draws inspiration from the teachings of Zoltán Kodály to create a classroom environment that is musically rich, engaging, and deeply collaborative, building on practical musical experiences.
Lucas graduated from the Aaron Copland School of Music at CUNY Queens College in 2024 with a degree in Classical Performance and Composition, along with a minor in Music Production. He later pursued a second degree in education, also at CUNY Queens College, to earn his New York State teaching license and begin working in public schools across New York.
